The First Shopping Center in Kalimantan to Utilize Clean Energy through PLTS Installation

JawaPos.com - A green shopping center in Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, Gaia Bumi Raya City Mall inaugurated their PLTS installation with a capacity of 1,491 kWp in collaboration with Suryanesia, a company that provides clean energy for businesses in Indonesia. 

Director of Operations of Gaia Bumi Raya City, Steven Swandono, noted that the installation at Gaia Bumi Raya City is a combination of rooftop solar power plant and solar carport. Through the solar carport innovation, solar panels not only function to provide clean energy, but also as a roof on the mall parking area as well as a means of community education for renewable energy.

To maximize electricity production, Suryanesia uses bifacial solar panels on the solar carport so that it can absorb sunlight from above as well as reflected light from below, thereby producing up to 30% more energy than conventional solar panels. 

With this solar installation, Gaia Bumi Raya City can annually generate 2,049,246 kWh of clean energy and reduce its carbon footprint by 1,608,248 kgCO2.

This initiative, Steven said, complements a series of other green efforts, including the provision of a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU), recycled water treatment, and the use of oil-free high-efficiency chillers. 

“The installation of this solar power plant adds to the list of green initiatives that we have undertaken, supporting the government's efforts in the utilization of clean energy for the commercial sector. Steven added that he appointed Suryanesia as a trusted partner in installing the PLTS systems, starting from the design, installation and licensing process until the PLTS can operate. “With experienced and certified human resources, Suryanesia will also operate and maintain the PLTS to ensure long-term good performance,” he said.
