Rooftop Solar Power Solutions Help Businesses Become More Efficient and Sustainable

The Government of Indonesia continues to accelerate the development of renewable energy, including Solar Power Plants or PLTS, as part of the national energy transition strategy toward the Net Zero Emissions target by 2060.

Suryanesia, a solar power developer providing Solar as a Service solutions through rooftop solar systems for the commercial and industrial sector, welcomes the government’s support in increasing the national renewable energy mix. This was stated by Rheza Adhihusada, CEO and Founder of Suryanesia.

Suryanesia sees strong acceleration in the adoption of rooftop solar in Indonesia. By mid 2025, the total installed capacity of rooftop solar under the Solar as a Service model grew fourfold to reach 643 megawatt peak, a significant increase compared to 178 MWp recorded in 2024.

Currently, Suryanesia’s Solar as a Service offering mainly serves manufacturing industry clients. Under this model, Suryanesia fully invests in the rooftop solar system and covers installation as well as maintenance costs. Customers only pay a monthly electricity fee, allowing businesses to significantly reduce their operational energy expenses.

There are three key sectors that dominate the adoption of Suryanesia rooftop solar solutions, namely building materials, packaging, and food and beverage. Looking ahead to 2026, Suryanesia sees strong potential to expand rooftop solar adoption across more industrial segments, as businesses can achieve cost savings of up to IDR 500 million per year for a building area of one hectare.

The total potential for rooftop solar development in the industrial segment is estimated at 16.5 gigawatt peak. However, rooftop solar deployment still faces challenges, particularly related to annual capacity quotas set by the government.

So what are the prospects and challenges for rooftop solar development at Suryanesia? Watch the full discussion between Syarifah Rahma and Rheza Adhihusada, CEO and Founder of Suryanesia, on Squawk Box, CNBC Indonesia, Thursday 11 December 2025.
